Jeonju City, Selection of Best Work in 'Archival Material Contest' for Band Photo from 1950s School Days

In the '14th Jeonju Record Collection Contest' hosted by Jeonju City, a photo of band activities during the 1950s high school years was selected as the best record.

Jeonju City conducted the record collection contest with the theme 'Finding Your School Days Memories in Jeonju' from March 4 to May 30, receiving a total of 43 submissions (620 points of data). Among them, a photo of band activities during the school years submitted by Mr. Park Chang-gil was recognized for its high relevance to the theme and rarity, and was selected as the best work.

Mr. Park submitted photos of △the 3rd Jeonbuk Track and Field Competition runner-up in 1949 during his time at Jeonju Public Agriculture and Forestry Middle School and Jeonju Industrial High School △music club activities after the Korean War on June 25, 1951 △marching band photo in 1952. He also donated over 100 materials capturing the educational scene from the 1950s to the 1990s, adding more significance.

In this contest, various materials on general topics related to Jeonju were also submitted, not just limited to school days. Graduation photos taken at Korombang Bakery in 1968, 56 volumes of Korean language textbooks from the 1940s, a graduation album from Jeonju Women's Public Normal School in 1936, and Jeonju sake bottles from the Japanese colonial era were highly praised for containing valuable historical information about Jeonju.

Jeonju City plans to compensate citizen donors with a minimum of 50,000 won to a maximum of 500,000 won worth of Onnuri.gif'>t vouchers, and the collected records will be safely preserved and exhibited at the Jeonju Citizen Records Center.

Park Nam-mi, head of the General Affairs Department of Jeonju City, said, "It is even more meaningful that citizens' precious memories are connected to Jeonju's history," and stated, "We will continue to expand the culture of record-keeping and citizen participation."
