Jeonju Yeongseong High School Wins the 48th Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Cup High School Soccer Tournament

Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18 team Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18 Jeonju Yeongsang High School (Principal Lee Jang-hoon, hereinafter Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18) has reached the top in the nation.

Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18 won the championship by defeating Cheonan Jeil High School in the final of the '48th Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister's Cup National High School Soccer Tournament' held at Goseong Public Sports Field in Gyeongnam on the 10th.

In the early stages of the game, Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18, who won the ball in Cheonan Jeil High School's territory, connected the ball to midfielder Jang Si-woo (No. 16) waiting outside the penalty box.

Jang Si-woo (No. 16), who received the pass, scored the first goal by shooting into the opponent's goal without delay in the 6th minute of the first half.

In the 19th minute of the first half, captain Noh Yeon-woo (No. 38) was tripped in a breakthrough, and Kim Beom-joo (No. 18), who took the penalty kick, successfully scored to make it 2-0.

In the second half, they secured the championship by fending off Cheonan Jeil High School's fierce attacks with the solid defense of defender Kim Seon-dong (No. 6) and goalkeeper Noh Sang-yeon (No. 1).

Starting from January 27th, in the preliminary rounds, Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18 advanced to the tournament of 22 teams by defeating Treasure Island Namhae Sports Club U-18 (8-1), Seoul Football A U-18 (5-2), and Uijeongbu Kwangdong U-18 (3-1).

Advancing to the round of 16 in the main tournament as the top team in the group stage, Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18 defeated Kimpo U-18 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.

In the round of 16 against Asan U-18, they won the game with a 5-1 victory thanks to consecutive goals by Noh Hyeon-jun (No. 11).

In the quarterfinals and semifinals, they advanced to the final by overpowering Hwaseong City U-18 team and Chungwon High School 6-1 each, thanks to the outstanding performances of Kim Beom-joo (No. 18) and Park Do-hyun (No. 15).

They swept numerous individual awards including the Best Coach Award won by Coach Lee Kwang-hyun, Best Coach Award (Coach Jeon Kwang-hwan), Best Player Award (Noh Yeon-woo), Top Scorer Award (Kim Beom-joo), Offensive Player Award (Noh Hyeon-jun), Best Young Player Award (Han Seung-min), and Goalkeeper Award (Noh Sang-yeon).

Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18, after winning the championship with 7 consecutive wins in the 46th Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister's Cup in 2024, once again proved their tradition and strength as a top-level team in this tournament by reaching the top.

Coach Lee Kwang-hyun of Jeonbuk Hyundai U-18 said, "The players showed their preparedness from the qualifiers to the final by maintaining their focus in every game. The process of reaching the final and winning the championship is the result the players have proven themselves," and expressed his gratitude to the club and the staff of Jeonju Yeongsang High School for their support in achieving good results.
