The organizing committee of the Jeonju World Sound Festival (Chairman Choi Cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Sound Festival) appointed Professor Kim Jeong-soo of Jeonju University as the new executive director at the general meeting of the organizing committee held on the 11th.

This appointment was made to reassess the long-term operational direction of the festival and to elevate the completeness of artistic planning and organizational operations. It was determined that it was necessary to appoint an individual with a broad understanding of the performing arts and extensive experience in planning and operating large-scale cultural events to oversee the festival, leading to the appointment of Professor Kim Jeong-soo.

Professor Kim Jeong-soo, the new executive director, previously served as the head of performance planning at the Jeollabuk-do Provincial Traditional Music Institute and also directed performances. He has been in charge of artistic direction for the Sound Festival, leading the planning and production of the festival. Additionally, he has held positions such as the head of the Jeonju International Film Festival office, the planning and directing team leader for the Jeonju World Cup Cultural Event Organizing Committee, the head of the planning team for cultural events at the 84th National Sports Festival, and the overall supervisor for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 99th National Sports Festival, accumulating experience in planning and directing large-scale cultural events.

He has also been actively involved in academia, serving as a concurrent professor in theater and film studies at Woosuk University and a visiting professor at SOAS, University of London in the UK. Currently, he is a professor in the Performing Arts Department at Jeonju University.

The Sound Festival expects that with Professor Kim Jeong-soo's experience encompassing the arts, academia, and the local community, he will lead the festival's artistic direction and overall operations steadily.

Professor Kim Jeong-soo stated, "The Sound Festival is a meaningful festival where our music meets world music and communicates," adding, "While respecting the achievements the festival has accumulated so far, I will expand the artistic depth and contemporary sensibility harmoniously." He emphasized, "I will perform my role with a sense of responsibility to make the festival a trusted event for artists, audiences, and the local community."

Furthermore, following the appointment of the new executive director, the Sound Festival plans to focus on balancing artistic quality and public appeal, expanding domestic and international exchanges, and establishing a stable foundation for festival operations.
