The Jeonbuk Office of Education was found to have issues with transparency in information disclosure, as it recorded the lowest rating in the '2024 Comprehensive Evaluation of Information Disclosure' conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The results of this evaluation, which is conducted annually to promote the activation of information disclosure and strengthen the credibility of the system, were announced at the cabinet meeting on January 7th this year.

This evaluation was conducted on a total of 554 institutions, including central administrative agencies, local autonomous entities, and public institutions, by checking five areas: pre-disclosure of information, original text disclosure, information disclosure request processing, customer management, and system operation. The average score for 2024 exceeded 90 for the first time since the evaluation was implemented, indicating that the level of information disclosure has generally improved. However, the Jeonbuk Office of Education was confirmed as an institution that needs improvement, as it remained in the lowest grade.

The results of the comprehensive evaluation of information disclosure are a key indicator of the transparency and democratic operation level of an institution. A low evaluation indicates that they did not respond appropriately to requests for information disclosure or did not provide information that should be disclosed. This suggests that the information management and disclosure system within the Jeonbuk Office of Education is being operated inefficiently, revealing problems in administrative procedures and avoidance of responsibility.

Information disclosure is a basic element for restoring administrative trust and strengthening transparency. A low level of information disclosure indicates inefficiency in the process of handling tasks and a lack of democratic operation.

The results of this comprehensive evaluation are expected to be the starting point for discussions surrounding the administrative transparency and accountability of the Jeonbuk Office of Education. The office is required to make substantial efforts to restore administrative trust and strengthen democratic operation through information disclosure.
