Jeonbuk Hyundai will kick off the new season with the first official competition of the 2026 season, the 'Coupang Play K League Super Cup 2026 (hereinafter Super Cup).'
On the 21st, at 2 p.m., Jeonbuk Hyundai will challenge Daejeon Hana Citizen at Jeonju World Cup Stadium for the Super Cup title.
Jeonbuk Hyundai aims to win the first trophy of the season at the Super Cup, which marks the starting point of the 2026 season, by leveraging the support energy of the 'Jeonju Castle' along with their home fans.
The 'K League Super Cup' is a competition where the previous season's K League 1 champion and Korea Cup winner face off. It has been held a total of seven times since its inception in 1999 until 2006, and after a 20-year hiatus, it has been confirmed to resume as the 'Coupang Play K League Super Cup 2026.'
However, this year, both the previous year's K League 1 champion and Korea Cup winner are Jeonbuk Hyundai, so the runner-up of K League 1, Daejeon, has earned the right to participate in the competition.
The Super Cup matches are played in a single 90-minute game, and if there is no winner during regular time, the champion will be decided through a penalty shootout without extra time.
In terms of the competition's operation, the 'N section (north side)' is designated as the home support section, the 'S section (south side)' as the Daejeon support section, while the W section (west side) and E section (east side) operate as 'neutral support areas.'
According to the policy for the neutral areas, fans can wear uniforms or merchandise of other clubs in these sections.
Tickets for the Super Cup match can only be reserved through the Coupang Play APP starting from February 6, and they will not be available for purchase at the venue or on Jeonbuk Hyundai's official website or APP.
In 2004, Jeonbuk Hyundai won the Super Cup by defeating Seongnam FC (then Seongnam Ilhwa) in a match held due to their Korea Cup (then FA Cup) victory from the previous year.
