The Jeonju Cultural Foundation (Chairman Woo Beom-gi) is publicly recruiting participating artists for the Visual Arts Domestic Exchange Support Project, which supports local visual artists in advancing into other regions of the art scene.
The project's call for submissions is divided into two categories: one for young visual artists, targeting exchanges between Jeonju, Busan, and Seongnam, and another for mid-career visual artists, focusing on exchanges between Jeonju and Jeju.
The application period runs from the 19th to April 9th, with submissions accepted from April 1st to 9th. Application forms can be downloaded from the Jeonju Cultural Foundation's website (http://www.jjcf.or.kr) or inquiries can be made to the Foundation's Literary Arts Promotion Team at 063-211-9275.
The "Jeonju×Busan×Seongnam Exchange" targets young visual artists aged 19 to 44 from Jeonju, selecting three individuals. The selected artists will receive a production support fund of 1 million won and support for exchange exhibitions and programs with artists from Busan and Seongnam.
This year's "Jeonju×Busan×Seongnam Exchange" will take place from October to November at the Jeonju "Palbok Art Factory," showcasing the works of 9 artists active in the three cities to the Jeonju citizens.
The "Jeonju×Jeju Exchange" targets mid-career visual artists aged 45 to 65, selecting six individuals. The selected artists will receive a production support fund of 1.5 million won, along with an exhibition at the Jeju "Art Space Ia" and an opportunity to interact with local artists in Jeju.
Choi Rak-gi, the representative of the Jeonju Cultural Foundation, expressed high expectations for this call for artists, stating that interest and response to the regional exchange exhibition participation have been increasing with each passing year. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the outstanding artistic achievements and unique artistic worlds of local artists to other regions, urging for more attention and support.
The Foundation operates the Visual Arts Domestic Exchange Support Project to provide opportunities for Jeonju visual artists to enter other art scenes and expand networks through art exchanges. To achieve this, the Foundation has been diversifying its cooperation with cultural and art institutions, having signed agreements with the Jeju Cultural Arts Foundation in 2021, and with the Busan Cultural Foundation and Seongnam Cultural Foundation in 2024.
