Inviting Citizens into the Colorful World of Simultaneous Literature

The Jeonbuk Simultaneous Literature Society (Chairman Kim Hyeong-mi) is hosting a "Book Concert with Citizens" and a simultaneous poetry book exhibition on Saturday, March 29th at 3 p.m. at the 4th-floor multipurpose hall of Jeonju City Library. This event is part of a project selected for the 2024 Jeollabuk-do Cultural and Tourism Foundation's regional cultural arts support program, providing a special time for citizens to share the emotions and joy of simultaneous literature together.

The "Book Concert with Citizens" will feature authors who have published simultaneous poetry books, including Ki Ok-kyung, Park Ja-ho, Choi Seong-ja, and Han Jae-suk, as well as authors Park Young-joo and Song Gyeong-ja. They will share interesting stories and creative processes related to their works. In particular, there will be a time for citizens to come on stage and recite simultaneous poems, and those who participate in the recitation will receive a simultaneous poetry book with the author's autograph and commemorative items.

This book concert, sponsored by Cheonggaeguri and Chaekgorae, is open for anyone to freely participate, and on-site registration will also be available on the day of the event. The authors expressed their desire to "share the world of childhood imagination with citizens and create warm memories together."

Meanwhile, the simultaneous poetry book exhibition will take place from March 26th to April 4th for 10 days on the 1st floor of Jeonju City Library. This exhibition will showcase the unique simultaneous poetry books of six authors along with the 2nd issue of "Jeonbuk Simultaneous Literature." The exhibited works include "Idol" (Ki Ok-kyung), "Found" (Park Young-joo), "The Apple of the Fly" (Park Ja-ho), "Umbrella in the Wind" (Song Gyeong-ja), "The Wizard Who Went to the Zoo" (Choi Seong-ja), "Marshmallow Restaurant" (Han Jae-suk), and the youth digital camera poetry book "Your Pattern" (Park Ye-bun).

The Jeonbuk Simultaneous Literature Society, which began as the "Jeonju Simultaneous Reading Mothers' Group" in 2005, has continued under the leadership of the founding chair Yoon Ee-hyun, followed by the 2nd and 3rd chairpersons, and currently under the 4th chairperson Kim Hyeong-mi. Through the voluntary activities of members of the Korean Simultaneous Literature Society, simultaneous reading groups have been established nationwide, and in 2021, it was expanded and reorganized as the "Jeonbuk Simultaneous Literature Society," bringing together citizens who read and authors who write simultaneous poetry.

The Jeonbuk Simultaneous Literature Society stated, "This event will be an opportunity for both children and adults to rediscover the innocence they may have forgotten," and expressed their hope for "the great interest and participation of citizens." It is expected that this spring, as citizens enter the world of simultaneous literature through the eyes of children, it will resonate warmly in their hearts.
