On the 21st, the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education held an information session on the operation of "2025 Community Schools, Urban Core Schools, and Rural Study Abroad Schools" for school and regional education office officials at the Changjo Narae Audiovisual Room.
This year, the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education aims to improve the educational conditions of small schools to create "accessible schools." Under this goal, they operate 153 Community Schools, 52 Urban Core Schools, and 28 Rural Study Abroad Schools.
Community Schools are structured as joint commuting area schools within and outside cities and collaborative education program types, encouraging student inflow to small schools through joint educational programs between schools. Urban Core Schools plan to expand financial support to schools within the city centers of Jeonju, Gunsan, and Iksan, where there is a noticeable decrease in the number of students, and also plan to induce student transfers through the establishment of joint commuting areas.
The number of students in Rural Study Abroad Schools has increased to 204 this year, and monthly living expenses of 300,000 to 500,000 won are supported for families staying abroad for study. The operating budget for school-specific special programs will also increase to a maximum of 20 million won, providing various learning experiences.
Im Gyeong-jin, the head of the Education Cooperation Department, stated, "Through small school policies, we will respond to the crisis of regional extinction and actively meet the demands of the local community education community."
