Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has achieved visible results in various fields such as discovering tourism startups, developing content, nurturing talent, and supporting overseas expansion through the Jeonbuk Tourism Enterprise Support Center.
The center is operated with a total budget of 94 billion won, with 47 billion won each from national and provincial funds, and this year, an additional 18 billion won will be invested to continue building the foundation for the growth of the tourism industry. Selected in the 2022 Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism public offering project, it will be operated until 2026, supporting the establishment and overall growth of tourism enterprises.
In 2023, the center will support 18 tourism startups, with 5 of them participating in the Scale-up project. In August, a business briefing was held with local companies in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, to promote overseas expansion, and Asak Co., Ltd. achieved a contract for the development of a tourism product worth 280 billion VND.
Furthermore, support was provided for digital transformation and promotion of 5 traditional tourism companies, and content business was promoted through a competition for locally specialized travel products and tourism goods. In terms of talent development, 173 jobs were created, contributing to the training of young talents through tourism job internships and knowledge salon programs.
The center strengthened regional networks by signing agreements with Jeonju Wansan High School, the Korea Tourism Organization, and others, establishing itself as a hub for regional entrepreneurship and tourism networking through 895 facility rentals annually.
This year, Jeonbuk Province plans to expand tourism startup recruitment, global collaboration projects, tailored consulting, and enhance tourism industry competitiveness through the development of region-specific tourism content and market expansion.
Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk Tourism Enterprise Support Center will be recruiting participating companies for the tourism startup competition from the 24th of this month until April 4th. More details can be found on the center's website (https://tourbiz.jbct.or.kr/).
