Iri Industrial High School announced on the 24th that it has signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement with Daedoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the production of anode materials for secondary batteries, and will cultivate customized talents in the field of secondary batteries.
Anode material is one of the four core materials that make up a secondary battery, along with cathode materials, separators, and electrolytes, and it stores and discharges lithium ions. Graphite is mainly used, but recently, silicon anode materials, which can dramatically improve charging speed and capacity, are gaining attention as next-generation materials. Daedoo Electronic Materials is the first company in Korea to successfully mass-produce silicon anode materials.
Through this agreement, both sides promised to operate a customized curriculum for the secondary battery industry, joint development of teacher training and curriculum, and hire five graduates.
Principal Lim Dae-seung of Iri Industrial High School said, "We are grateful for the hospitality, and we desperately need the help of Daedoo Electronic Materials to operate a field-customized curriculum and strengthen teacher capacity," and requested to strengthen cooperation.
Lim Il-ji, CEO of Daedoo Electronic Materials, said, "I am impressed by the meaningful changes that this historic school is challenging," and added, "I look forward to Iri Industrial High School being designated as a Meister High School in 2025 and will actively support it."
