Jeonbuk Education Office Holds Special Class Establishment and Expansion Explanation Session... Strengthening the Guarantee of Learning Rights
On the 28th, the Jeonbuk Education Office held a '2025 Jeonbuk Special Class Establishment and Expansion Explanation Session' at Jeonju Peace Hall. About 600 people, including school principals, vice principals, and teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools in the province, attended the event.
Special classes are established to support the inclusive education of students with disabilities, and this year, the Jeonbuk Education Office established 50 new special classes within regular schools. This marks a significant increase for the second consecutive year, following 61 classes established last year, contributing to expanding the school choice and ensuring the learning rights of students eligible for special education.
During the session, Lee Won-hee, principal of Gwangju Sunye School, explained the concept of inclusive education, while Hwang Hyeon-seon, principal of Jeonju Shinil Middle School, and Yang Hee-yeong, principal of Soryong Elementary School, shared examples of establishment and expansion. This provided practical information necessary for setting up special classes at each school and presented specific roadmaps.
Kim Yoon-beom, head of the Elementary Special Education Department, stated, "We will actively implement policies to ensure that not a single student faces difficulties in school selection," adding, "This explanation session served as an opportunity to create a consensus on the need for expanding special classes."
