North Jeolla Province Holds Conference on Disability Policies... "Creating an Inclusive Society Where People with Disabilities and Non-Disabled People Coexist"

On the 28th, Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province held a meeting at the provincial office led by Governor Kim Gwan-young to discuss the development of policies for people with disabilities. Representatives from 16 disability organizations affiliated with the Jeollabuk Disability Policy Forum (represented by Park Gyeong-no) attended the meeting, where they discussed various current issues and proposed improvement measures.

During the meeting, the representatives emphasized the need to expand job opportunities for people with disabilities, strengthen customized welfare services, ensure mobility rights, and enhance participation in culture and sports. In response, Governor Kim stated, "I will continue to make efforts to expand welfare for people with disabilities and create more job opportunities," requesting active input from the disability community.

Furthermore, Governor Kim mentioned that Jeollabuk was selected as a candidate city for the 2036 Summer Olympics, stating, "I will make the Olympics a festival of inclusivity where people with and without disabilities come together."

Park Gyeong-no, the forum's representative, expressed gratitude for the operation of a dedicated consultation room for people with disabilities within the provincial office, stating that it has been very helpful to many individuals with disabilities, and requested Jeollabuk Province's continued interest and support.

Governor Kim Gwan-young stated, "Jeollabuk Province aspires to be an inclusive society," adding, "We will strive to create a warm welfare environment in Jeollabuk where people with and without disabilities live together."
