The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 31st that applications for the 2025 school year education allowance vouchers for students from low-income families will be accepted from April 1 to February 28, 2025, through the Korea Student Aid Foundation's online portal.
The education allowance is a support fund for educational activities provided to households with incomes below 50% of the median income according to the National Basic Livelihood Security Act. For this year, households with a monthly income of less than 3,048,870 won for a family of four are eligible. Qualification applications can be made through the resident center in the jurisdiction or the 'Bokjiro' online portal (www.bokjiro.go.kr).
If selected as a beneficiary, elementary school students will receive 487,000 won, middle school students 679,000 won, and high school students 768,000 won in education support funds. This amount has increased by an average of 5% compared to last year. Additionally, high school students who are not eligible for free education can also receive additional support for admission fees, tuition fees, and textbook expenses.
Education allowance vouchers must be applied for by the student themselves or their guardian aged 14 or older through the Korea Student Aid Foundation's voucher application portal (e-voucher.kosaf.go.kr). However, if the student received a voucher in the 2024 school year and maintains eligibility this year, points will be automatically allocated through the same means as before (excluding prepaid cards) without the need for a separate application.
The voucher must be used by March 31, 2026, and any unused points will expire after the deadline. Payment methods include credit/debit card points, easy payment (Payco), and named prepaid cards.
For more details on the application process, inquiries can be made through the Korea Student Aid Foundation's voucher call center (1599-2000).
