The city of Jeonju, known as the city of books, will officially launch the "First Library Experience Story of Life by 2025" project from May 7th to help toddlers and young children become familiar with books.
The "First Library Experience Story of Life" is a reading culture program aimed at infants aged 6 to 48 months and their parents, offering activities such as distributing book packages, book play, and reading sessions. Participation can be done by visiting the Jeonju City Library's website (lib.jeonju.go.kr) or by contacting individual libraries.
The first half of the program will take place from May 7th at the Kkotsim and Songcheon Libraries (6-12 months) and Geonji and Samcheon Libraries (13-24 months), with 10 families participating for 8 weeks each. The second half of the year will see similar programs at the Geumam and Hyoja Libraries, as well as the Seosin and Jjokgureum Libraries, from September to October.
Additionally, the weekend program called "Book Playground" will be held at the Pyeonghwa Library in June and the Inhu Library in September, targeting 15 infants aged 25 to 48 months. Furthermore, on May 26th, Geonji Library will host a special lecture on "Color Therapy for Happy Parents."
Jeonju City Library also provides book packages to families with infants aged 0 to 48 months, which can be obtained by visiting the nearest city library.
Choi Hyeon-chang, the head of Jeonju City Library, expressed his hope that through this program, parents and children can enjoy quality time communicating through picture books.
