The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it will significantly expand and operate the 'Outreach Korean Language Education' this year to enhance the Korean language proficiency of multicultural students in the province.

The number of multicultural students is increasing every year, reaching 9,010 students, which is 5.03% of the total student population as of 2024. In response, the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education has been accepting applications from elementary, middle, and high school students to implement Korean language education starting from April. So far, over 300 students have applied.

Based on the results of last year's program, the average achievement scores of students in the four areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing improved from 5.1 points to 8.9 points, demonstrating the effectiveness of the education. Consequently, the number of instructors has increased from the previous 130 to over 160.

The instructors conduct tailored Korean language education focusing on daily life after diagnosing the students' Korean language proficiency, and they have completed training and safety education in advance to enhance their educational expertise. Continuous educational support will also be provided to multicultural students arriving during the semester.
