Chonbuk National University (President Yang O-bong) is conducting free emergency treatment practice education for residents and university students to enhance the safety capabilities of the local community. This education is part of the National University Development Project and is designed to increase citizens' ability to respond to emergency situations and boost their confidence.
The education will take place at the 'Simcheon Hakdang' next to the traditional Korean house gate of Chonbuk University during the first half of 2025, with a total of 29 sessions. It will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. for two hours, and anyone can participate on-site without prior registration.
The education content is centered around practical training for emergency situations in daily life, such as airway obstruction emergency treatment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Chonbuk University has installed 89 AEDs on the first floor of each building on campus and conducts monthly inspections. Additionally, they have posted simple instructions for easy use so that anyone can use them.
An official from the Chonbuk University Safety and Health Management Department stated, "We hope that this practical training will serve as an opportunity for residents to cultivate basic skills to calmly respond to emergency situations."
