Press Conference on the Screening of Films for the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival Concludes

The Jeonju International Film Festival (Co-executive directors Min Sung-wook and Jung Joon-ho) held a press conference on the 1st to announce the screening lineup for the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival.

On that day, the Jeonju International Film Festival held two press conferences at the Jeonju Digital Independent Cinema in Jeonju and at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. With less than a month left until the opening, the press conference announcing the screening lineup was attended by Woo Beom-gi, the organizing committee chairman of the Jeonju International Film Festival, co-executive directors Min Sung-wook and Jung Joon-ho, as well as programmers Moon Seok, Moon Sung-kyung, and Jeon Jin-soo, Park Tae-joon, the overall producer of the Jeonju Project, and this year's programmer Lee Jung-hyun, who introduced the lineup and overall program of the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival.

This year's opening film is "" directed by Radu Jude, and the closing film is "" directed by Kim Ok-young. Programmer Moon Sung-kyung expressed high expectations, stating, "Director Radu Jude pursues a new narrative form and represents this era by creating films that do not stop contemplating the political and social issues faced by the world." Programmer Moon Seok also commented on the closing film, saying, "Having worked as a documentary filmmaker for over 40 years and having produced documentaries for over 10 years, Kim Ok-young's directorial debut film approaches the subject in a new way," emphasizing the reason to visit the Jeonju International Film Festival until its last day.

Starting the press conference, Chairman Woo Beom-gi stated in his opening remarks, "Beyond being a simple film festival, the Jeonju International Film Festival has become a cultural diplomacy platform that introduces the identity of the international cultural city of Jeonju to the world," emphasizing the value of the Jeonju International Film Festival.

Co-executive director Min Sung-wook expressed expectations for unique films of the Jeonju International Film Festival, saying, "As always, without losing our original intentions and doing our best, we are preparing the festival with Jeonju-style works this year as well. I hope you come to Jeonju and enjoy this rich film festival." Co-executive director Jung Joon-ho also expressed confidence in the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival, saying, "This year, the Jeonju International Film Festival will be a platform for international exchange among independent and alternative filmmakers, and it will be a rich festival where works and audiences meet through diverse programs."

Following this, programmers Moon Seok, Moon Sung-kyung, Jeon Jin-soo, and Park Tae-joon, the overall producer of the Jeonju Project, introduced the festival sections and screening works such as the competition section, Jeonju Cinema Project, special screenings "Back to Democracy," and "Special Screening: Toward Possible Films." On that day, Park Tae-joon, the overall producer of the Jeonju Project, introduced the film "" directed by Lee Il-ha as the selected work for the industrial program of the Jeonju Cinema Project, expressing confidence in the work and stating his aspirations for the future projects, hoping to confirm the spirit of the Jeonju Cinema Project, which has been striving to discover works that can transcend various boundaries such as society, humanity, relationships, history, and diversity, and to continue efforts to discover creative groups with new materials and fresh visual languages.
