A top teacher from Jeonbuk has been appointed as the first national president of the Association of Top Teachers in Secondary Education. The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education announced on the 4th that Kwon Hyeok-seon, a senior teacher at the Korean Technical Assistant High School, has been inaugurated as the 10th national president of senior teachers in secondary education. President Kwon Hyeok-seon previously served as the director of policy and representative of the Jeonbuk Education Research Institute, which participated in the founding of the Jeonbuk Education Newspaper.
Since being appointed as a top teacher in secondary education in Jeonbuk in 2020, Teacher Kwon Hyeok-seon has actively engaged in various activities within the association, serving as the head of research and policy. By running for and being elected as the national president this year, he has set a new milestone in the education sector in Jeonbuk.
Throughout his tenure at a general high school, Teacher Kwon has dedicated himself to designing and implementing educational programs tailored to students' aptitudes and career paths. He has also conducted research on student-centered teaching and learning methods using educational technology, and has focused on maximizing the potential of each student through creative experiential activities.
Currently, there are a total of 55 top teachers in Jeonbuk, including 25 in elementary and middle schools and 30 in secondary schools, injecting vitality into the educational field as teaching specialists.
President Kwon also expressed his aspirations as the new president. He stated, "At a time when the education landscape is rapidly changing with the introduction of artificial intelligence digital textbooks, high school credit systems, and achievement evaluation systems, there is a need to expand the deployment of senior teachers to provide stable support to schools." He added, "I will strive to find practical solutions to educational issues by leveraging the purpose of the senior teacher system."
