Jeonju City is launching customized programs that leverage the local characteristics to guarantee lifelong learning rights and support independence for people with disabilities.
On the 8th, the city announced that it will operate a total of 11 Jeonju-specialized programs this year as an inclusive lifelong learning city for people with disabilities. These programs will be conducted at the Jeonju Disability Lifelong Education Center, Jeonju Disability Family Support Center, and Daon Lifelong Education Center, focusing on experiential learning utilizing Jeonju's cultural and tourism resources.
Key programs include the Jeonju Human Rights Film Studio, Aesthetics of Hanji (traditional Korean paper), Economic Stories with Traditional Markets, Traditional Food Experience, among others. Through Jeonju Hanok Village, traditional crafts, film infrastructure, and more, immersive learning experiences are planned to be provided.
The city expects that through these specialized programs, people with disabilities will enhance their pride in the local community and establish an independent foundation through practical education.
Jin Gyo-hoon, Director of the Welfare Environment Department of Jeonju City, stated, "We will actively support people with disabilities to grow as integral members of the local community through Jeonju's unique specialized learning programs."
