The Ministry of Education will conduct a public offering for the selection of 'Self-Directed Learning Centers' from April 10 to June 5. The applicants for the public offering are nationwide provincial education offices and local governments, and local governments can apply jointly through the provincial education offices.
Self-Directed Learning Centers provide learning spaces and programs for middle and high school students to cultivate self-study habits, and are operated and managed by EBS. The centers are equipped with individual study rooms, group study rooms, and lounges, and support self-directed learning through EBS educational content.
Each center will have a 'Learning Coordinator' who will conduct student learning assessments, attendance management, learning counseling, etc. Additionally, there will be online and offline learning support programs involving university students, allowing for question and answer sessions on key subjects. This program is linked to the Korea Scholarship Foundation's university student and youth education support project.
This year, around 50 centers will be initially selected nationwide, and provincial education offices or local governments can provide facilities and operate them in conjunction with school complex facility projects or education development special zone projects. The Ministry of Education will comprehensively evaluate the facility acquisition conditions of applying institutions, expected usage scale, and self-program plans for selection, and plans to provide business consulting support to selected institutions.
Operating expenses will be supported through local education financial grants for up to three years, and a business briefing will be held in Seoul on the 16th.
