A special exhibition showcasing the art world of two masters who changed the flow of modern art in the 20th century, Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy, has opened in Jeonju.

The Jeonju Cultural Foundation (Chairman Woo Beom-gi) held a preview event on the 21st at the Palbok Art Factory ahead of the opening of the exhibition "Masters of 20th Century Art: Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy," revealing the beginning of the full exhibition that will run from April 22nd to July 27th.

At the preview event, attended by around 100 citizens and various dignitaries including Yoon Dong-wook, Vice Mayor of Jeonju, Nam Gwan-woo, Chairman of the Jeonju City Council, and Baek Seung-gwan, Chairman of the Jeollabuk-do branch of the Korea Art Association, the significance of the exhibition was discussed.

This exhibition showcases a total of 169 pieces of work, focusing on the prints and art books of the two artists, highlighting their spirit of experimentation, sculptural exploration, and aesthetic contemplation of color in modern painting. Matisse's iconic "Jazz Series" and bold, playful works, along with Dufy's delicate sense of color, are exhibited together.

Along with guided tours, the opening event provided a deep appreciation of the two artists' representative works, and in the experience zone, visitors enthusiastically participated in creative experiences using Matisse's cut-out technique and stamping Dufy's works to create their own unique pieces for media display.

Choi Rak-gi, CEO of the Jeonju Cultural Foundation, expressed, "This exhibition is a meaningful opportunity for Jeonju citizens to share the artistic worlds of the two brightest artists in world art history," and hoped that many people would experience the comfort and inspiration that art brings through the works.

The exhibition is held at the 2nd floor exhibition hall of Building A at the Palbok Art Factory in Jeonju, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The exhibition is closed on Mondays, and admission fees are 10,000 won for adults, 8,000 won for teenagers, and 6,000 won for children.
