Environmental organization Fredeco introduced reusable cups at Wansan Flower Park in Jeonju on April 20th. The flower park, which attracts numerous citizens and tourists every year, is also a place where a lot of disposable waste is generated. With the recent opening of 'Wansan Bunker The Space,' the foot traffic of citizens has increased, leading to a more serious waste issue. This initiative was a small step to reduce waste and create a sustainable tourism culture.

Fredeco collaborated with local cafes to experiment how a reusable cup circulation system could work at Wansan Flower Park. As a result, two cafes, Deed Flower Park branch and Dong Cook Baguette Bar, participated in providing beverages using reusable cups for a day on April 20th. A total of around 270 cups were used, including 60 16-ounce cups and 210 14-ounce cups, rented from the Jeonbuk Sustainable Development Council and ZENT. The cups are designed for washing, hygienic collection, and reuse after use.

Citizens who rented the cups without a deposit returned them through five collection booths located at Wansan Bunker, Municipal Wansan Library, Maegok Bridge entrance, Wansan Flower Park entrance, and Dong Wansan Neighborhood Support Center after consuming their drinks.

More citizens than expected showed a positive response to using reusable cups. One citizen met on-site expressed, "I realized there is too much garbage. If changing just one cup can help the Earth, I am willing to do it." The process of using and returning the cups was not burdensome, and citizens willingly participated.

Fredeco, which operated the pilot project, stated, "It was a meaningful experience to confirm that a reusable cup circulation system can actually work in high-traffic areas like Wansan Flower Park." They added, "This initiative was not just about environmental protection but laying the groundwork for creating a sustainable tourism culture. Next year, we plan to expand the scale by collaborating with various local units in Wansan-dong and strive to establish a systematic system with administrative support."
