The '2025 College Student Living Support Fund' project, jointly promoted by Suncheon County and the Suncheon County Okcheon Scholarship Association (Chairman Choi Young-il, County Mayor), is officially being implemented. The county announced that applications for the first half of the year will be accepted at the local town welfare centers from May 1st to the 20th.
This project, a core welfare policy of the 8th local administration aimed at reducing the financial burden of Suncheon-born college students and enabling them to focus on their studies, is now in its third year of implementation. It has been receiving high participation rates and positive evaluations annually, contributing to the increase in local resident population.
The beneficiaries are college students who have graduated from local elementary, middle, or high schools and have lived in Suncheon County for over a year themselves or one of their parents. They can receive up to 2 million won. Graduates from schools outside the region or those who passed the high school equivalency exam can receive a maximum of 1 million won if they have lived in Suncheon for one year themselves or one of their parents for three years.
Applications are accepted through visits to the local town welfare centers, and detailed application requirements and documents can be found on the Suncheon County Office and Okcheon Scholarship Association websites.
County Mayor Choi Young-il stated, "The living support fund is a system to alleviate the economic burden on parents and help students focus on their studies," adding, "We will continue to provide various support to help young people prepare for the future."
