The National Gugak Center (Director Kim Joong-hyun) has started the first half of the '2025 Enjoyable Gugak Excursion' schedule.
This program aims to cultivate sensitivity towards traditional music by providing students from areas with low cultural accessibility the opportunity to directly see, hear, and experience traditional arts activities, thereby broadening their cultural appreciation.
Starting from May 17th and 18th at Hwanggan Elementary School in Yeongdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, a total of three schools including Hacheon Elementary School in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do on May 15th and 16th, and Nampo Elementary School in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do on May 22nd and 23rd will participate.
The 1-night, 2-day schedule includes attending a Gwanghanruwon concert, traditional arts lessons (ganggangsullae), learning pansori, exploring cultural heritage sites in Namwon, and visiting the Namwon Aerospace and Astronomy Observatory, Namwon Education Support Center, and Namwon Children's Science Experience Center. Participating students will have the opportunity to naturally encounter Gugak through programs that combine performances, lessons, and explanations, allowing them to become more familiar with traditional arts.
'Enjoyable Gugak Excursion' is a representative educational and cultural project of the National Gugak Center that has been ongoing since 2006, contributing to the expansion of the reach of Gugak by organically combining art education and cultural exploration, as well as bridging cultural gaps between regions and promoting the sustainable spread of traditional arts.
Recruitment for participating schools in the second half will be conducted in June, and the program will be operated for up to three schools in September and October. For participation applications and related inquiries, contact the National Gugak Center's Jangakgwa office at 063-620-2324.
