The National Gugak Center (Director Kim Joong-hyun) will present a series of traditional music performances for children called 'Story Bundle' in celebration of Family Month in May. The performances will take place every Saturday from May 10th to 31st at 3 p.m. at the Yeowon Hall, totaling four shows.
'Story Bundle' is a performance series tailored to children's perspectives, featuring creative traditional music plays, shadow puppet plays, and Gugak musicals. It is designed to introduce children to traditional music in a natural and creative way, allowing them to develop their sensitivity.
This performance combines traditional music melodies with imaginative and emotional narrative structures to provide young audiences with a new artistic experience.
The first performance on May 10th, 'Star and Rainbow Bridge,' a Gugak musical for children performed by the National Gugak Center's Gugak Orchestra, depicts the fantastic journey of baby dogs leaving the star 'Kkushuralla' for Earth in a heartwarming manner.
On the 17th, the shadow puppet play 'Story Snap! It's a Story!' by the theater group 'Byul Bi 612' will be staged. The whimsical story duel of three characters trapped in a giant's belly stimulates imagination and enhances immersion.
On the 24th, 'Jungga's Day Out,' an interactive Gugak play for children by 'Solsol and Friends,' portrays a child who struggles to adapt to a new environment but regains self-esteem through the gentle tree friend Neulbo.
Finally, on the 31st, 'The Exciting Red Hat and Friends,' a Gugak musical for children by the creative group 'Kkakdugi,' creatively reinterprets traditional fairy tales with a modern sensibility.
Various supplementary events where attendees can experience traditional music directly will be available before and after the performances. Activities such as yut-nori (traditional board game), air play, maze exploration, coloring, and photo zone events will be set up in the front yard, lobby, and 2nd-floor Heungbu Maru of the Yeowon Hall. Children who participate in these activities will receive commemorative.gif'>ts.
