The documentary film "Search and Seizure: The Beginning of Rebellion" surpassed 40,000 viewers in its first week of release, claiming the top spot at the independent art film box office. The film's audience ratings have been steadily increasing, indicating the potential for long-term success.

According to the integrated ticketing network for cinemas, "Search and Seizure: The Beginning of Rebellion" recorded a cumulative audience of 41,535 from its release on April 23 to April 27, just five days later. This quickly propelled it to the number one spot at the independent art film box office, with some theaters even selling out over the weekend, demonstrating its popularity.

It is also noteworthy that the film has topped the weekend seat sales rankings for three consecutive days. Fueled by the enthusiastic response from audiences, the film has received a real audience rating of 9.87 on Naver and a CGV Golden Egg Index of 93%, gaining momentum through word-of-mouth success.

This current trend of success is similar to the early momentum seen with previous films produced by Newstapa Film, such as "Confession" (approximately 145,000 viewers) and "Accomplices" (approximately 260,000 viewers), and there are expectations for it to surpass the performance of "Lady First," which attracted around 85,000 viewers after its release last year.

"Search and Seizure: The Beginning of Rebellion" is a work that delves into the seven-year conflict between the investigative reporting media Newstapa and President Yoon Suk-yeol in a reporter-style format. Based on actual records, interviews, on-site reporting, a fast-paced narrative, a solid story, and overwhelming immersion, the film is garnering praise from audiences.

Newstapa Film has established itself as a leading production company in the field of journalism documentaries through works like "Confession," "Accomplices," and "Panmunjom," and this film is also being evaluated as a "movie that changes the world."

It is highly likely that "Search and Seizure: The Beginning of Rebellion" will surpass 50,000 viewers this week, and the attention is focused on whether it will continue to set exceptional box office records for a documentary film.
