The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province National Gugak Center (Director Yoo Young-dae) will be hosting the 3rd performance of the "Thursday Regular Gukak Performance Series" for the first half of 2025, titled "Bulrakho (불락호)_Are You Not Happy?" on the 8th at 7:30 p.m. at the Hall of Masters in the Korean Sound Culture Center.

This performance, commemorating Parents' Day, is designed as a program for families to enjoy together, featuring a variety of traditional music performances, lively folk songs, and short traditional plays.

The term "Bulrakho" is a famous expression taken from the Analects of Confucius, meaning "Are you not happy?" or "Are you not pleased?" It expresses the joy of experiencing the performance and the pleasure of being present at this event.

Through this performance, the Gugak Center aims to provide joy by creating a stage that can resonate and communicate with all generations through the beauty and liveliness of tradition.

The program will start with a daegeum trio performance titled "Festival of Folk Songs," followed by folk songs such as "Spring Song," "East Sea," "You Also Go," a performance of the traditional sanjo piece "Director Hyunryu Daegeum Sanjo," and a short traditional play called "Ppongpa-jeon."

The first program, "Festival of Folk Songs" for daegeum trio (composed by Im Gyo-min), is a rearranged piece based on representative Korean folk song melodies to showcase the unique characteristics of the daegeum.

Next, the actors will present folk songs like "Spring Song," "East Sea," "You Also Go," allowing the audience to enjoy the atmosphere of spring. This will be followed by the performance of "Director Hyunryu Daegeum Sanjo," highlighting the deep and clear tone unique to the daegeum, improvisation, and delicate techniques.

The performance will conclude with the short traditional play "Ppongpa-jeon," centered around the character Ppongpa, a supporting character from the story of Simcheongjeon. This work humorously portrays Ppongpa's stubborn and clumsy nature, bringing laughter to the audience.

This performance is free for residents above elementary school age. Reservations can be made up to two tickets per person a week before the performance through the Gugak Center's website. Additionally, K-Music performance passports can be issued and stamped in the lobby.
