The National Health and Medical Industry Labor Union (Health and Medical Union) announced a demand for a platform containing 10 major policies in 4 areas and 37 detailed tasks ahead of the 21st presidential election, focusing on ▲ proper medical reform ▲ institutionalization of sectoral negotiations ▲ realization of social reform.

At a press conference of the Jeonbuk regional headquarters on May 8, the Health and Medical Union stated, "We must restore the suspended 9.2 agreement since the Yoon Suk-yeol government and move towards a society that guarantees the public nature of healthcare and the right to national health." They urged the next government and political parties to adopt this as part of their pledges.

Key demands include △ expansion of medical school admissions and establishment of public medical schools △ standardization of appropriate staffing levels by occupation △ introduction of a 4-day workweek △ implementation of a national responsibility system for public hospitals △ expansion of integrated nursing and caregiving services △ strengthening of national support for health insurance △ cessation of medical commercialization policies △ institutionalization of sectoral negotiations, among others.

The Health and Medical Union emphasized that "people-centered health and medical policies are the true beginning of medical reform," stressing that the centrality of public nature and labor rights protection in policies is essential for a safe and happy society for both healthcare workers and the public.

Furthermore, the union announced a nationwide strike at the end of July, warning that they will engage in strong protests if legitimate policy demands are ignored.
