On the 8th, Suncheon County released over 80,000 young chub (a type of fish) into the Churyeongcheon in Bokheung-myeon and the Seomjingang River in Yudeung-myeon to promote the increase of aquatic resources and ecosystem restoration.

Around ten local residents and government officials participated in the release, and the chub released were healthy individuals measuring over 4cm in length, having passed all tests for fish diseases.

The county makes efforts each year to release native fish species such as chub, bitterlings, catfish, and crucian carp into local rivers to enhance biodiversity and restore aquatic ecosystems. This project was also carried out as part of efforts towards ecological balance and sustainable water resource management.

One resident expressed gratitude, saying, "Consistent release projects will help increase fishery resources."

Choi Young-il, the mayor of Suncheon, expressed hope that the chub will grow healthily and enrich the ecological environment of Suncheon, stating, "We will continue to promote release projects to create a healthy aquatic ecosystem."
