Jeonbuk Hyundai secured a valuable victory with Jeon Jin-woo's winning goal in the away match in Gwangju, intensifying their pursuit of the league leaders.

On May 11th at 7 p.m., Jeonbuk defeated Gwangju FC 1-0 at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium in the 13th round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2025.

With this win, Jeonbuk extended their unbeaten streak to 9 games (6 wins, 3 draws), recording a season record of 7 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses (25 points), narrowing the gap with the league leaders Daejeon Citizen (28 points) to 3 points.

Jeonbuk, currently having played one game less, has positioned themselves to potentially overtake the top spot based on goal difference or total goals scored.

The winning goal came in the 39th minute of the first half. In a corner kick situation, Jeon Jin-woo pushed the ball into the net with his right foot amidst a scramble between Gwangju defenders and goalkeeper Kim Kyung-min, scoring the opening goal.

This goal stood as the winning goal, and Jeon continued his peak goal-scoring form by netting 5 goals in the last 5 games. With his 8th goal of the season, he joined Daejeon's Joo Min-kyu as the joint top scorers.

On that day, Jeonbuk maintained the starting lineup that had been leading the unbeaten streak under the tactical guidance of coach Poh Yut. Despite the physical demands, the coach showed strong faith in the existing starting lineup and did not make any changes.

Jeon Jin-woo, Compañía, and Song Min-kyu formed the attacking line, while Kim Jin-kyu, Park Jin-seop, and Kang Sang-yoon took charge of the midfield. The defense consisted of Kim Tae-hyun, Kim Young-bin, Hong Jung-ho, and Kim Tae-ho, with Song Beom-geun guarding the goal.

In the match, Jeonbuk relinquished possession and flow to the opponents but secured victory through stable defense and sharp counterattacks, continuing their tactical operation. As the competition for the top spot intensifies, the continuation of Jeonbuk's unbeaten streak is being closely watched.
