The 44th Teachers' Day Commemoration Ceremony Held... Over 3,200 Educators Nationwide Honored
528 Meritorious Teachers in Jeonbuk Education Office Awarded
A meaningful event honoring the dedication of teachers in the field of education was held nationwide in celebration of the 44th Teachers' Day. The Ministry of Education (Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho) held a Teachers' Day commemoration ceremony in collaboration with the Korean Teachers' Organization Federation on May 15 at the FKI Tower in Seoul, awarding a total of over 3,200 educators, including 233 government awardees and 2,968 commendations from the Minister of Education.
This year's ceremony was held under the theme 'Meeting Your Sunshine, We Bloom from Sprouts to Flowers,' with around 300 attendees including award recipients' families, education organization officials, and others. Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho and the Ministry of Education officials personally presented the awards to the representative awardees, while the Seoul Education University Elementary School Student Choir, Seoul Doseong Elementary School Orchestra, and Gyeonggi Teachers' Choir provided celebratory performances, adding to the emotional atmosphere.
On this day, the Ministry of Education reflected on the essence of education and aimed to promote a school culture of mutual respect and cooperation through various online and offline events. Particularly, an Insta-toon collaboration with illustrator Kikuni titled 'Drawing Memories for You' was unveiled through social media and the National Education Information System (NEIS). Additionally, the Ministry of Education is conducting a 'We Proudly Present Our ○○!' anecdote contest on the Together School platform.
Furthermore, a 'Teacher's Mental Health Week (May 1-15)' was also conducted to support teachers' mental well-being. During this period, self-assessment of mental health, psychological counseling guidance, and treatment support information were provided, and teachers in need of specialized support could seek counseling through the Education Office Protection Center or the Ministry of Health and Welfare's psychological support program.
Acting Prime Minister Lee Ju-ho expressed deep respect and gratitude to the teachers who have supported students in their learning moments and helped them rise again, stating that the Ministry of Education will spare no effort in providing continuous attention and support to allow students to fully develop their potential.
On the same day, the Jeonbuk Education Office held a Meritorious Teachers Award Ceremony under the theme 'The Future Grows with Your Teaching. Thank You, Teachers!' at the 2nd-floor auditorium.
Education Superintendent Seo Geo-seok presented awards to a total of 528 recipients, including the Hongjo Geunjeong Medal, Presidential Commendation, Prime Minister's Commendation, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education's Commendation, and Superintendent's Commendation. Among the awardees were Min Wan-sung, Director of the Jeonbuk Education Training Institute, Song Hyeon-jin, Principal of Suwon Energy High School, Kim Mi-sook, Director of Jeonju Neulbum Kindergarten, and Park Ji-yong, Vice Principal of Jeonju Seomun Elementary School.
The Jeonbuk Education Office highly praised these individuals for their contributions to the advancement of Jeonbuk education in areas such as innovative teaching methods, establishing a future education environment based on EduTech, improving basic academic skills, and career guidance.
