North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province announced that they will conduct a concentrated crackdown on vehicles violating designated parking spaces for people with disabilities from May 19 to 23, coinciding with the tourist season.

This crackdown will involve 14 cities and counties within the province, along with the Center for Disability Access Technology Support, in a joint effort between the public and private sectors. The goal is to ensure the convenience of movement for people with disabilities and establish a proper parking culture.

Violations will incur fines of 100,000 won for illegal parking, 500,000 won for obstructing parking, and up to 2 million won for misuse of parking signs. Real-time reporting through the Safety Reporting App is also possible.

In addition to enforcement, the province plans to inspect the suitability of parking areas within tourist sites, including their location, size, and slope. Immediate corrections will be made if they do not meet the facility standards.

Yang Su-mi, head of the Disability Welfare Policy Division, emphasized that designated parking spaces for people with disabilities are essential spaces for the rights of those with mobility impairments and urged the spread of a culture of proper usage.
