On May 19th and 20th, the Environmental Health Center in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province at Jeonbuk University (Director Kim Yong-hyun) held the '2025 Environmental Health Mobile School' for elementary school students at Samrye-dong Elementary School and Cheongwan Elementary School in Wanju County.
The Environmental Health Mobile School is an experiential program aimed at raising awareness and enhancing the practical capabilities of children, a sensitive group to climate crises, and has been operated continuously for three years since 2023.
In this education session, students from grades 3 to 6 participated in theoretical education on the causes of climate change, its health impacts, and practical solutions, alongside tailored experiential activities for each grade. Lower grades engaged in making traditional Korean game pieces and AR games, while higher grades enhanced their climate crisis response capabilities through coding activities in a board game format.
Director Kim Yong-hyun stated, "In the era of climate crisis, children's practical abilities in environmental health are crucial," and expressed, "We will continue to expand services that combine education and experiential learning."
The center plans to continue providing tailored environmental health education for various groups in the future.
