The National Gugak Center (Director Kim Joonghyun) will be hosting a special performance of the Wanchang Stage by the vocalist Jeon Ji-hye at 2 p.m. on June 7th at the Yeumheon Hall. This performance, part of the 2025 Sound Pan - Wanchang Stage series, is the third in line and is a planned production aimed at inheriting the tradition of sound and expanding connections with the public.
The performance titled 'Gangdogeunje Inanchobadi Heungboga' follows the Dongpyeonje lineage of sound, connecting Song Heungrok, Song Manggap, Kim Jeongmoon, Gang Dogeun, and Lee Nanchobadi, showcasing exceptional flow of narrative and harmony of rhythm and melody. The unique lyricism and dramatic composition of Heungboga blend throughout, enhancing the artistic completeness within the Wanchang format.
Jeon Ji-hye, a regular member of the Jeonnam Provincial Gugak Orchestra, has honed her sound depth by learning traditional Pansori from the master Lee Nanchobadi. She has been recognized for her skills by winning the President's Award at the 18th Song Manggap Pansori Master Competition and the Grand Prize in the General Division at the 32nd Jeonju Dasasupnori Pansori Competition. With her pure and clear tone and restrained emotional expression, she has consistently delivered profound resonance on stage. In this performance, she is expected to unfold the intricacies and aesthetics of Heungboga with her unique sound. The artistic direction for the master is under the responsibility of Jo Yong-an, the Artistic Director of the Jeonnam Provincial Gugak Orchestra.
The performance is free of charge, and reservations can be made through the National Gugak Center's website (namwon.gugak.go.kr), KakaoTalk channel (National Gugak Center), or by phone (063-620-2329).
