The oral health clinic operated by Jeonju City in collaboration with local dentists is providing significant help in improving the oral health of special school students.

Jeonju City Health Center announced on the 29th that dentists belonging to the volunteer group 'Happy Companion Volunteer Society' of Jeonju City Dentists Association conduct regular treatments such as cavity fillings, nerve treatments, and extractions every Thursday at the oral health clinic.

In particular, for students who have difficulty affording treatment due to economic reasons, they provide free non-insured prosthetic treatments (such as crowns), and last year, the clinic and the director jointly supported around 7 million won worth of treatment costs.

Jeonju City's oral health clinic is gaining attention as it is scheduled to carry out implant treatments, making it the first among special school oral health clinics nationwide to do so. This is considered an exceptional case that goes beyond the scope of existing public dental health projects, and is evaluated as a successful result of public-private cooperation.

Director Hwa-joon Lee (Goeun Dental Clinic) received the Korean Dental Association's 'Dental Medical Service Award' for his long-standing volunteer activities, and Director Yeon-sook Lee (Nammun Dental Clinic) also joined the volunteer group, strengthening the medical staff.

Kim Shin-sun, the director of Jeonju City Health Center, stated, "We will continue to actively connect local community resources and strengthen support to help special education students lead independent lives based on good health."
