The National Gugak Center (Director Kim Joong-hyun) will host the first performance of the '2025 Sound Pan Myeongchang Stage' at Yeumheon on June 14 at 2 p.m.
In this performance, Kim Il-gu, a holder of the national intangible cultural heritage of Pansori, and Song Jae-young, a holder of the intangible cultural heritage of Pansori in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, will showcase the essence of profound Pansori.
The 'Sound Pan Myeongchang Stage' is a representative Pansori planning performance that the National Gugak Center has been consistently holding since its opening. It is designed as a special stage where the audience can listen closely to the sounds of the country's top Myeongchang singers. Unlike the 'Sound Pan Complete Stage,' where selected sound performers take the stage through auditions, this is an opportunity to appreciate the main highlights of the Myeongchang singers.
In this performance, Kim Il-gu will perform "Jeokbyeokga" by Park Bong-sul, and Song Jae-young will perform "Chunhyangga" by Dongcho. The two singers are expected to move the audience with their sounds based on their respective styles and traditions.
An official from the National Gugak Center stated, "This stage is a precious opportunity to directly meet the best Myeongchang singers of our time," adding, "Through a profound performance that fully embodies the lives and art of these singers, the true essence of Pansori can be felt."
The performance is free of charge, and advance reservations can be made through the National Gugak Center's website (namwon.gugak.go.kr), KakaoTalk channel (National Gugak Center), or by phone (063-620-2329).
Meanwhile, the 'Sound Pan Myeongchang Stage' will be held twice in 2025, with the next performance scheduled for September.
