Muju, recognized for its favorable environment for table tennis, has once again elevated its status as the host of the '2025 Table Tennis Hopes (U12) National Team Selection Tournament' this year.
The selection tournament took place from the 6th to the 9th at the Muju National Sports Center, running concurrently with the 13th Muju Mountain Film Festival, providing participants with a special opportunity to experience the local culture. Organized by the Korea Table Tennis Association and hosted by the Korea Elementary School Table Tennis Federation, a total of 373 participants including players and coaches from 51 elementary school teams nationwide engaged in fierce competition at this event.
A total of 12 national representatives, 6 boys and 6 girls, were selected based on the competition results, and they are scheduled to compete in events such as the East Asia Hopes (U12) Tournament to be held in December.
Park Young-seok, head of sports facilities at the Muju County Office, stated, "Muju has established itself as a mecca for table tennis through hosting table tennis competitions and training camps," adding, "We will strive to expand into various sports beyond table tennis."
