The Jeollabuk-do School Operation Chairmen's Association (hereinafter referred to as the School Operation Association) took a meaningful first step by officially launching on the 17th and extending a warm helping hand to the local community.
At the inauguration ceremony held at the 2nd-floor auditorium of the Jeollabuk-do Office of Education on that day, representatives from the school operation committees of 14 cities and counties in the province gathered. Around 200 people, including Yoon Mi-yeon, the newly appointed chairwoman, Seo Geo-seok, the Superintendent of Jeollabuk-do Office of Education, Jin Hyeong-seok, the Chairman of the Jeollabuk-do Council's Education Committee, and four members of the provincial council, attended to congratulate the establishment of the association.
The School Operation Association is a representative organization that encompasses unit school operation committees in the province. Its goal is to reflect various voices from the local education field in policies and act as a bridge between schools, parents, and the local community.
Chairwoman Yoon Mi-yeon stated, "Each school has unique situations and educational characteristics, so we will establish a close cooperation system with the local councils to ensure tailored education can be provided," and expressed her determination to become the central axis leading communication between the Office of Education, parents, and the local community.
Superintendent Seo Geo-seok also welcomed the initiative, stating in his congratulatory message that the School Operation Association is a crucial pillar supporting education in Jeollabuk-do. He emphasized that the core of future education cannot be achieved by schools alone, stressing the essential organic collaboration among parents, the local community, and educational authorities.
On this day, Chairwoman Yoon Mi-yeon, in celebration of her inauguration, donated 200 bags of rice to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation Jeollabuk Branch and the local disability support organization, Gaon-gil, instead of receiving congratulatory flower wreaths, adding significance through the practice of sharing.
Several sponsors, including former chairmen of the School Operation Association, An Jae-pal and Han Sang-woong, the President of Jeonju City Ski Association, the CEO of Teacher World, the Director of Mansung Pain Medicine Clinic, and the President of Cheonnyeon Green, also participated in this rice-sharing initiative.
Chairwoman Yoon Mi-yeon expressed her hope that "even with a small gesture, warmth can be delivered to children and families with disabilities in urgent need of help," and stated, "The School Operation Association will continue to go beyond being a mere consultation body, actively practicing continuous sharing and solidarity with the local community in the future."
The rice donated will be sequentially distributed to vulnerable households and families with disabled children in the province through the two organizations.
