The representative educational NGO in Jeonbuk, Jeonbuk Youth Education and Culture Institute (Chairman Nam Sang-pal), will be hosting the 25th Jeonbuk Youth Peace and Unification Festival on Saturday, June 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the Jeonju Vision University auditorium to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
This event will be a participatory peace and unification cultural festival centered around youth, featuring activities such as a Peace and Unification Song Lyrics Change Contest (Song-Ga-Ba) and writing letters to North Korean compatriots. A total of 14 teams from local elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as youth organizations, will participate by singing songs of various genres like K-pop, children's songs, and rock bands with messages of peace and unification.
At the commemorative ceremony, Chairman Nam Sang-pal will express his desire to pass on a peaceful future to the youth, and former Jeonbuk Superintendent of Education Seo Geo-seok will also attend to acknowledge the efforts of Jeonbuk Youth Education and Culture Institute and educators and activists who have been promoting peace and unification education for 25 years.
The festival will also feature invited performances by Jinan Bugwi Elementary School Choir, Korea K-Tigers Children's Taekwondo Performance Team, and Nokdu Flower Citizens' Choir to enhance the festive atmosphere of peace shared with the audience.
Jeonbuk Youth Education and Culture Institute has been organizing this event annually since 2001 to educate youth about the significance of national reconciliation and unification. An event official stated, "Rather than competition, we hope that this stage focused on participation and empathy will serve as an opportunity for youth to cultivate a sense of peace and determination for unification."
