-'Champion Preacher' Kim Shin-wook to Reunite with Fans... Inviting War Veterans for Event and Performance on Stage
As the showdown between Jeonbuk Hyundai and FC Seoul in the 20th round of the K League 1 approaches at 7 p.m. on the 21st at Jeonju World Cup Stadium (Jeonju Castle), fans' excitement is heating up.
Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC announced that as of the morning of the 19th, over 26,000 tickets (including season tickets) have been sold, putting them on track to achieve the second '30,000 at Jeonju Castle' milestone of the season.
This match is a crucial battle as a traditional rivalry between Jeonbuk and Seoul, dubbed the 'Legendary Match,' and also with Jeonbuk's challenge for a 16-game unbeaten streak in the league.
Jeonbuk solidified their position at the top of the league by securing a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against Suwon FC on the 17th. Players like Companhia, who scored a header goal in his comeback match, as well as the recent strong performances of Tiago and Lee Seung-woo, are raising fans' expectations.
On the day of the match, 'Champion Preacher' Kim Shin-wook will visit Jeonju Castle for a fan signing event. Kim Shin-wook, a symbolic striker of Jeonbuk who led the team to multiple victories including the AFC Champions League since joining in 2016, still receives love from the fans.
Furthermore, the Jeonbuk supporters group MGB (Mad Green Boys) will continue the tradition of inviting war veterans, which has been ongoing since 2015. National heroes will visit the stadium to encourage the players and participate in the ceremony. To commemorate this, there will be a demonstration performance by the Army Band and a patriotic song performance by the 35th Division Military Band.
An award ceremony for the Jeonbuk players and coach who shone in the K League in May will also take place. Midfielder Jeon Jin-woo, who won the 'Player of the Month' award for the second consecutive month following April, is receiving attention, while the 'Coach of the Month' award went to coach Geus Fortes. Jeonbuk Hyundai winning this award is the first time since July 2022 under coach Kim Sang-sik, after about three years.
Before the match, an official signing ceremony with 'WFP (World Food Programme)' engraved on the Jeonbuk Hyundai uniforms since May 31 will be held at the press conference venue. WFP is the largest humanitarian organization under the UN, continuing its activities to eradicate hunger worldwide and enhance food security.
