Wonkwang University signs MOU with South Sudan and Lee Tae-seok Foundation for cooperation in education, health, and agriculture

Wonkwang University (President Park Sung-tae) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of South Sudan and the Itaeseok Foundation to collaborate in various fields such as education, healthcare, and agricultural technology.

The signing ceremony took place on the 19th at the main building of the university, attended by President Park Sung-tae, key professors in the fields of agriculture and life sciences, Minister Madut Biar Yel of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of South Sudan, and Director Gu Su-hwan of the Itaeseok Foundation.

Through the agreement, Wonkwang University will provide training programs and educational and research cooperation for talent development in the fields of life sciences and agriculture, while the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of South Sudan will ensure fairness in student selection and safety for visiting Korean experts. The Itaeseok Foundation will be responsible for ensuring the identities of the participants in the agreement.

President Park Sung-tae expressed his hopes that the collaboration will make a substantial contribution to enhancing healthcare and agricultural capabilities in South Sudan, stating, "For over 60 years, Wonkwang University has been nurturing healthcare professionals, and we hope this collaboration will contribute significantly to strengthening healthcare and agriculture in South Sudan."

Minister Madut Biar Yel was moved by the dedication of Father Itaeseok and the warm hearts of the Korean people, calling the collaboration a very meaningful opportunity for education, including healthcare and agriculture.

Director Gu Su-hwan expressed his hope that the MOU will expand education and humanitarian support to become a beacon of hope for the youth of South Sudan, and he expects this agreement to establish itself as a model for international cooperation.
