The voices of citizens condemning the attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel and urging for the cessation of war resonated in Gunsan.
On the morning of the 24th, civic organizations in the Gunsan area held a protest in front of the Gunsan US Air Force Base gate, urging for the halt of military attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel and immediate resumption of dialogue. This protest will take place until July 4th on weekdays from 7:30 am to 8:30 am and will also be carried out on major streets in Gunsan city.
The organizations criticized the attacks on Iran by Israel on June 13 and the bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities by the United States on June 21 as clear acts of aggression violating international law, emphasizing that "dialogue and diplomacy, not war, are the solution."
Earlier, 11 civic organizations in the Jeonbuk region, including Jeonbuk Peace and Human Rights Solidarity and Gunsan US Base Our Land Finding Citizens' Group, raised their voices through a joint statement, stating, "The US attacks on Iran are dangerous war moves by the Trump administration and must be stopped immediately."
The statement also strongly criticized, "By unilaterally supporting Israel, the G7 countries are effectively condoning the genocide of over 50,000 people in Palestine and further escalating the risks of all-out war in the Middle East."
Through the protest on that day, Gunsan civic organizations urged for a firm condemnation of the military actions of the United States and Israel threatening global peace, calling for the cessation of all invasions and armed attempts against Iran and immediate engagement in peace negotiations. They also stated, "The suffering of war always falls on civilians," expressing their commitment to spreading the voice of opposition to war and the realization of peace alongside citizens.
