At the 'Jeonbuk Centennial Forum' hosted by the Jeonbuk Research Institute, Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-joon presented federal-level decentralization and local-led national balanced development, as well as the globalization of the region through K-culture, as South Korea's new growth strategy.

During a special lecture held on the 27th, Mayor Lee spoke on the theme of 'Innovating Speed,' stating, "Moving away from the central government-led approach, a new development strategy centered on local governments is necessary," emphasizing the need for simultaneous deregulation and comprehensive financial securing.

He described the collective characteristics of Koreans as 'Han' (resentment), 'Heung' (excitement), and 'Jeong' (affection), diagnosing that competitiveness in speed is formed based on these. He further emphasized the need for a local-led strategy combining innovation for sustainable national growth.

Mayor Lee also mentioned the importance of cooperation and strategic solidarity between the capital region and non-capital regions, as well as between major cities and small cities, emphasizing the urgent need to establish a foundation for regions to grow on their own.

Director Lee Nam-ho of the Jeonbuk Research Institute evaluated the lecture as a session that looked at national identity and growth strategy together, stating, "This lecture provided a direction for regions to move forward as the main agents of national development."

The 'Jeonbuk Centennial Forum' is hosted by Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, jointly organized by the Jeonbuk Research Institute and the Jeonju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the participation of practical departments and relevant agencies.
