The '10th Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Youth Model United Nations Conference' was successfully held on the 7th at Wonkwang University to enhance the global sensibility of Jeonbuk youth. Hosted by the Jeonbuk International Cooperation Promotion Agency, this event was attended by 72 representatives from 21 middle and high schools in the province. Through heated debates and discussions on the topic of 'youth participation methods in UN policy and decision-making processes,' they adopted a joint declaration and resolution.
This year, symbolically marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN, the 30th anniversary of university student model UN conferences, and the 10th anniversary of youth conferences coinciding, the event was held concurrently with the national university student model UN conference, providing young people with the opportunity to experience the practical operation of an international conference.
Participants took on roles as representatives of various countries following the UN format, enhancing their international sensibility, collaborative skills, and critical thinking. Particularly, attention was drawn to the winner of the 'Future Award,' who was offered the opportunity for overseas internships at international organizations.
The major awardees included Kim Seo-jin and Kim Ga-jin from Hwasan Middle School for the Governor of Jeonbuk Award, Yang Jeong-yeon and Jung Se-yeon from Jeonju Seoshin Middle School for the Superintendent of Education Award, Park Min-chan and Kim Tae-yoon from Hwasan Middle School for the Director of the Promotion Agency Award, Moon Hyo-won and Park Jae-hyun from Jeonbuk Jeil High School for the Chairman of the Provincial Council Award, and Park Hyun-jin and Song Ji-sung from Jeonju Solnae High School.
Song Ki-taek, Director of the Exchange and Cooperation Division at the Jeonbuk International Cooperation Promotion Agency, stated, "This conference has established itself as an educational platform for developing substantial global capabilities beyond mere experience."
