The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Headquarters (Director Lee Oh-sook) announced on the 16th that they have achieved visible results such as budget savings and increased administrative credibility in celebration of the 1st anniversary of the implementation of the Fire Law Support System.
Introduced last July to address the vacancy of fire department lawyers, the system currently operates with three dedicated advisory lawyers appointed. Over the past year, a total of 55 consultations have been conducted, providing practical support in various areas such as contract review, legal interpretation, and litigation response.
While the annual cost for hiring dedicated lawyers amounts to 50 million won, the current system is operating at around 12 million won annually, resulting in a budget savings of approximately 38 million won.
The Fire Headquarters held a meeting with advisory lawyers on the 15th and decided to expand the personnel (up to 5 members), streamline the advisory process, and publish a casebook in response to the increasing demand for consultations.
Director Lee Oh-sook stated, "We are effectively managing legal risks through the expert advisory system" and expressed, "By balancing field-oriented administration with legal expertise, we will enhance public trust."
