The number of external tourists and foreigners visiting Jeonju to experience the city's food culture is noticeably increasing.

The Jeonju Cultural Foundation, led by CEO Choi Rak-gi, announced that out of a total of 2,577 participants in the first half of 2025 at the 'Cooking Experience Room' within the Korean Traditional Culture Center, 919 were foreign tourists, accounting for approximately 36% of the total.

This figure indicates a high level compared to the foreign participation rates of 9.9% in 2022, 36% in 2023, and 33% in 2024, showing that Jeonju's food experience programs are consistently attracting high interest and satisfaction from foreign tourists.

Operated by the Traditional Culture Team of the Jeonju Cultural Foundation, the Cooking Experience Room allows participants to directly make and taste traditional Korean dishes, garnering significant popularity among both domestic and foreign visitors, with a revisit rate of 78% in the first half of this year.

Especially for foreign tourists, it has established itself as a 'living food culture experience space' where they can see, hear, make, and taste Jeonju's unique food culture.

Recently, the Cooking Experience Room at the Hanok Village in Jeonju completed remodeling and reopened its doors. This space, suitable for small-scale experiences or educational programs for up to 30 people, offers differentiated content from the Cooking Experience Room within the Korean Traditional Culture Center, which can accommodate up to 186 people.

In June, a successful 'Nerim Food Experience' event was held at the Hanok Village Cooking Experience Room, where participants had a meaningful time experiencing the deep flavors and values of traditional cuisine by directly experiencing Jeonju's unique traditional ingredients and cooking methods.

CEO Choi Rak-gi of the Jeonju Cultural Foundation stated, "The Cooking Experience Room has become an important platform for preserving Jeonju's food culture and promoting it to the world beyond just being a simple experiential space," and expressed, "We will continue to operate various programs to deepen the understanding and enjoyment of Jeonju's food culture for a diverse range of participants, including foreigners."
