On the 25th, Gunsan City held a "Midterm Report Meeting on the Study of Management and Operation Plan for the Saemangeum Aquatic Food Export Complex and Future Strategies" along with an "Explanation Meeting on the Living Lab Consortium."

This event was organized to facilitate the early activation and successful implementation of the "Saemangeum Aquatic Food Export Processing Complex," aimed at establishing the first aquatic food export processing complex in the Jeonbuk region. About 40 participants, including members of the Aquatic Food Committee, Saemangeum Development Authority, Jeonbuk Provincial Office, Gunsan University RISE Project Team, and aquatic food companies, attended the event.

Participants discussed operational methods, equipment and manpower support, sauce development, prototype production, and practical cooperation methods. They also explored strategies for industrial development through the establishment of a Smart Aquatic Food and Marine Bio Living Lab Consortium.

Based on the opinions gathered on that day, Gunsan City plans to hold a final report meeting in September.

Currently, the Saemangeum Aquatic Food Export Complex is progressing with the contract and groundbreaking of tenant companies under an investment agreement worth approximately 170 billion won. Infrastructure facilities such as seawater supply facilities and internal roads are also smoothly under construction. The key facility, the Smart Aquatic Processing Center, is aiming for completion by the end of 2026.

Gang Im-jun, the Mayor of Gunsan City, stated, "Through the export-oriented aquatic food complex and smart factories, we will lead the structural reform of traditional manufacturing industries."
