Chonbuk National University (President Yang O-bong) is strengthening its leading position in the field of quantum industry. Professor Kim Hee-dae from the Department of Semiconductor Science and Technology has been selected for the "2025 Demand-based Quantum Technology Demonstration and Consulting Support Project" organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA), and is now actively engaged in research and development.

Chonbuk University, in collaboration with Hansol Chemical and Jeonbuk Techno Park, will invest a total of 2.8 billion won over two years (national funds 1.45 billion won, local funds 440 million won, private funds 910 million won). Professor Kim's team plans to demonstrate an IoT sensor platform that can self-generate energy without external power by developing an energy harvester device that combines plasmon resonance and photocatalysis.

Through this project, Chonbuk University aims to strengthen its position as a "local-based quantum technology hub university" and plans to pursue international joint research with Korea, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Professor Kim stated, "This will be the cornerstone for creating the quantum industry ecosystem in Jeonbuk," and added, "We will focus on commercializing core technology and technology transfer."
