The 'Know Your Blood Vessels' community center classroom program, which has been in operation in Suncheon County since this month, is receiving a positive response as it aims to prevent cerebrovascular diseases and enhance the self-health management abilities of the elderly.
This program will run until the end of September, with 29 participants including dedicated nurses and officials from public health centers and clinics visiting 192 community centers in the county.
The elderly participants learn to understand the normal values of blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol, and how to manage their health through regular measurements. Beyond just checking the numbers, the program covers analyzing the causes and improving lifestyle habits, providing practical help for health management.
Participants expressed positive reactions, saying, "I've only heard that my blood pressure was high before, but through this education, I learned how to manage it."
A county official stated, "Knowing my blood pressure and blood sugar levels is the starting point for health management," and added, "Through prevention-focused education, we will actively support the elderly in achieving health independence."
