An incident occurred where the 'master password' of the smart device charging lockers installed in all levels of schools in Jeollabuk-do was leaked due to the negligence of the AS center's management.

This password is a common management password set for products from the same manufacturer across the entire province, not specific to a particular school. It has been confirmed that with the leaked number, it is possible to open and close charging lockers in other schools as well.

Jeollabuk-do Office of Education immediately lodged a strong complaint with the manufacturer upon confirming the leak and is currently in the process of changing the master password across all products.

While the exposure of the password itself is problematic, its misuse can lead to legal consequences. For instance, even if one accidentally learns the passcode to someone else's house door, opening the door without their consent is considered a crime. Similarly, unauthorized entry into school charging lockers by inputting the master password or tampering with the equipment is not just a prank but an illegal act that can lead to criminal prosecution.

In other words, while the leakage of the password itself may be attributed to the fault of the AS center for answering a student's call to listen to their circumstances, using the leaked password for unauthorized access and manipulation can lead to clearer legal liabilities. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize that using it without permission is a criminal act.

This incident stems largely from a structural issue where multiple schools use the same master password for the convenience of the service management company. To prevent recurrence, the Office of Education emphasizes the need for measures such as establishing individual master key management systems for each school and enhancing security education for students.
